The ordering process
Insta describes the workflow for InstaGlo custom reflective heat transfers in one sentence: send your logo or decorative graphic and Insta sends back the finished transfers, ready to be applied with a heat press. Excess transfers can be stored and applied on an as-needed basis.
That last clause is the operational reason reflective transfers suit uniform programmes. You order once against a logo, then draw down as staff turn over, rather than re-running a job every time three new jackets need decorating.
The artwork constraint that catches everyone
InstaGlo publishes a minimum line weight of 2.5 pt positive and 2.5 pt negative. That is heavier than Insta's standard DTF minimums of 1 pt and 2 pt, and it is where most first-time reflective orders need work.
What it rules out in practice:
- Hairline rules and thin dividing lines.
- Light-weight or high-contrast serif typefaces at small sizes.
- Tight knockout detail inside a mark — the negative space closes up.
- Fine registration marks, tag lines and micro-text under the threshold.
Fix this at the design stage. A logo redrawn to hold 2.5 pt in both directions costs an hour of design time; a production run that fills in costs the run.

Fabrics and pressing technique
Rated apparel:

Insta positions InstaGlo for occupational workwear, consumer activewear, gym bags, hats, wristbands, headbands and other performance fabrics — which is why stretchability is in the feature list rather than being an afterthought.
Technique: pre-heat the material, and use a Teflon or parchment window for the press application if needed. Then hold 290–300 °F at 30–40 lbs for the full 15 seconds and let it go cold before peeling. Peeling warm lifts the reflective layer, and the failure is immediate and obvious.
Caps and headwear need a cap press rather than a flat platen — the Insta 420 Cap Press and Insta 418 use platens moulded to the curve of a hat. Flat garments run on any manual or automatic machine that holds the window evenly.
