Installing Baffle Vents
Exhaust vents can be found at the roof's top. They provide unimpeded access for heat, hot and moist air trapped in your attic. Baffles, rafter and chimney vents are identical. Baffles (often referred to as rafter ventilations) can be installed in an attic wherever there is an intake or soffit. Baffles protect vents from becoming blocked by insulation.
Next, measure your distance between the two rafters. The distance should be no less than four inches. The bottom edge of each baffle should meet at the roof rafters and ceiling joist. Once you have measured the distance you can begin installing the baffles. Align and secure baffles properly. Spray foam can be used to seal the connecting points to prevent air leakage.
Insulation baffles, which are inexpensive and easy to install, are very cost-effective. These can be attached by sliding them in between the insulation and roof deck. Once they are secured, they must be stapled at the sides. It is important to take care when installing insulation. Insulation baffles are also known by the names attic vents wind baffles and rafter exhausts. They funnel air up and away from the attic. They are usually made of rigid foamboard, plywood, or card. These are used to draw in fresh and prevent excess moisture buildup.
